There are a number of other major institutions that are expected to launch their own cryptocurrency this year and the company that is making the most noise in the market is social media giant Facebook. <\/p>\n<p>Facebook&#8217;s cryptocurrency plans were announced towards the end of the last year and that is expected to become a reality in 2019. Rumors say that the plan is for the cryptocurrency to be used in conjunction with <strong>WhatsApp<\/strong>. The encrypted messaging platform would be able to send the coin to friends and family instantly. These include <strong>Telegram<\/strong> and <strong>Kakao<\/strong> which is a South Korean based company. This is similar to the attempts by <strong>Venmo<\/strong> and <strong>Paypal<\/strong> to implement instant payments via smartphone users. <strong>WeChat<\/strong>, China&#8217;s biggest messaging system also <a href=\"https:\/\/pay.weixin.qq.com\/index.php\/public\/wechatpay\">uses a similar function<\/a> and it is very popular with Chinese users. <\/p>\n<h2>Not Truly Cryptocurrency<\/h2>\n<p>However, experts are also saying that Facebook&#8217;s potential product will not be a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.legitgambling.com\/cryptocurrency\">true cryptocurrency<\/a>. One of the main properties of Bitcoin is its decentralization and independence of any central network.
