{"id":8449,"date":"2018-11-01T16:42:04","date_gmt":"2018-11-01T16:42:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.legitgambling.com\/news\/?p=8449"},"modified":"2018-11-01T12:55:04","modified_gmt":"2018-11-01T12:55:04","slug":"nfl-news-and-notes-thursday-november-1st-2018","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.legitgambling.com\/news\/nfl-news-and-notes-thursday-november-1st-2018\/","title":{"rendered":"NFL News and Notes &#8211; Thursday November 1st 2018"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.legitgambling.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/national-football-league.jpg\" alt=\"National Football League\" width=\"280\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-8106\" \/>Depending on teams bye weeks, we are at the de facto mid way point of the season, and it has definitely been exciting thus far. <\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/nfltraderumors.co\/list-2018-nfl-trades\/\">NFL trade deadline was Tuesday<\/a>, and we saw more action than years past as teams gearing up for a post-season run attempted to shore up their rosters. <\/p>\n<p>In what has been a slow news week outside of the trades, we will take an in depth examination of each major trade from the deadline. <\/p>\n<p>We will also have an updated injury report.<\/p>\n<h2>Trade Fallout<\/h2>\n<h3>WR Golden Tate > Eagles<br \/>\nLions < 3rd round pick<\/h3>\n<p>Tate provides the Eagles with a &#8216;<em>Yards After Catch<\/em>&#8216; creator that allows them to be creative in how they utilize their weapons. Wentz somewhat funnels targets to <strong>Alshon Jeffery<\/strong> and <strong>Zach Ertz<\/strong>, and Tate can be another option on 3rd downs and in the short game to allow Jeffery and Ertz to work the intermediate levels of the field and <strong>Nelson Agholor<\/strong> to work over the top.<\/p>\n<p>The Lions move is somewhat questionable to me after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/patriciatraina\/2018\/10\/24\/the-cap-implications-of-the-giants-trade-damon-harrison-to-detroit\/\">trading for Damon Harrison last week<\/a>. Caught in between contender and everyone else, the Lions had one foot in the buyer door and one foot in the seller door, but obviously feel comfortable with <strong>Kenny Golladay<\/strong> and <strong>Marvin Jones<\/strong>. <\/p>\n<h3>WR Demaryius Thomas &#038; 7th round pick > Texans<br \/>\nBroncos < 4th &#038; 7th Round picks<\/h3>\n<p>This one makes sense on both sides. The Texans just lost <strong>Will Fuller<\/strong> for the year, and while Thomas is not even remotely the same skill set, he provides the Texans with a bonafide possession receiver to alleviate pressure from <strong>DeAndre Hopkins<\/strong>. A change of scenery could allow Thomas to revitalize his career, and <strong>Deshaun Watson<\/strong> represents the best QB Thomas has played with since Manning.<\/p>\n<p>The Broncos were burnt out on Thomas, as his play had somewhat declined of late. Rookies <strong>Courtland Sutton<\/strong> and <strong>DaeSean Hamilton<\/strong> will have larger roles now with Thomas\u2019 departure, and a 4th round pick is a nice return on a player that they were most likely going to move on from (no dead money) after the season.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Denver Broncos<\/strong><\/p>\n<div style=\"position:relative;height:0;padding-bottom:56.25%\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/WeIToFgvEfQ?rel=0&amp;showinfo=0?ecver=2\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" frameborder=\"0\" style=\"position:absolute;width:100%;height:100%;left:0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div>\n<h3>S HaHa Clinton-Dix > Redskins<br \/>\nPackers < 4th round pick<\/h3>\n<p>This move allows the Redskins a lot of versatility in the back end, as they have 3 very capable safeties with differing skill sets in <strong>Clinton-Dix, D.J. Swearinger and Montae Nicholson<\/strong>. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/_ha21\/\">Clinton-Dix<\/a> is still a very solid over the top safety, but had shown some plays where he did not look fully engaged.<\/p>\n<p>The Packers have been shopping Clinton-Dix for a while, and he most likely would have walked in free agency after this season anyway. The move leaves <strong>Jermaine Whitehead, Kentrell Brice and Josh Jones<\/strong> as the top safeties on the roster.<\/p>\n<h3>EDGE Dante Fowler > Rams<br \/>\nJags < 3rd &#038; 5th round picks<\/h3>\n<p>Dante Fowler steps in immediately as the Rams best edge rusher, and should start opposite <strong>Samson Ebukam<\/strong> after a week or so of transition time. Making a move for a former top 3 overall pick really shows the Rams are all in this season, especially with Fowler\u2019s contract up after this season. Fowler flamed out in Jacksonville as <strong>Yannick Ngakoue<\/strong> and <strong>Calais Campbell<\/strong> outplayed him, but a change of scenery and the added bonus of playing with <strong>Aaron Donald<\/strong> and <strong>Ndamukong Suh<\/strong> may pay off big for both the Rams and Fowler.<\/p>\n<p>As previously mentioned, the Jags have better options on the edge than Fowler, which made him expendable. I&#8217;m sure they would have liked to get a better return, but as they already declined his 5th year option, Fowler was going to walk after this season anyways.<\/p>\n<h2>Injury Report<\/h2>\n<p>BUF QB Derek Anderson (<em>concussion<\/em>) &#8211; <strong>doubtful<\/strong><br \/>\nCHI G Kyle Long (<em>foot<\/em>) &#8211; <strong>expected to be out 6-8 weeks<\/strong><br \/>\nCHI EDGE Khalil Mack (<em>ankle<\/em>) &#8211; DNP Wed. <strong>questionable<\/strong><br \/>\nCIN EDGE Carl Lawson (<em>knee<\/em>) &#8211; <strong>expected to be placed on IR<\/strong><br \/>\nDEN LB Brandon Marshall (<em>knee<\/em>) &#8211; <strong>doubtful<\/strong><br \/>\nDEN WR DaeSean Hamilton (<em>knee<\/em>) &#8211; <strong>out<\/strong><br \/>\nHOU LB Zach Cunningham (<em>knee<\/em>) &#8211; <strong>out<\/strong><br \/>\nHOU WR Will Fuller V (<em>knee<\/em>) &#8211; <strong>placed on IR<\/strong><br \/>\nLAR WR Cooper Kupp (<em>knee<\/em>) &#8211; <strong>questionable<\/strong><br \/>\nLAC EDGE Joey Bosa (<em>foot<\/em>) &#8211; out, <strong>making progress<\/strong><br \/>\nMIA QB Ryan Tannehill (<em>shoulder<\/em>) &#8211; <strong>out<\/strong><br \/>\nNE CB Eric Rowe (<em>groin<\/em>) &#8211; <strong>placed on IR<\/strong><br \/>\nNO EGE Marcus Davenport (<em>foot<\/em>) &#8211; <strong>likely out a few weeks<\/strong><br \/>\nPHI CB Jalen Mills (<em>foot<\/em>) &#8211; <strong>week to week<\/strong><br \/>\nSF LB Reuben Foster (<em>hamstring<\/em>) &#8211; <strong>out<\/strong><br \/>\nTB RB Ronald Jones (<em>hamstring<\/em>) &#8211; <strong>out<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Enjoy the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.legitgambling.com\/news\/nfls-sunday-night-football-betting-pick-pittsburgh-steelers-at-baltimore-ravens-preview\/\">games this weekend<\/a> and good luck on any action you may have on the games.
