{"id":7968,"date":"2018-08-16T15:12:12","date_gmt":"2018-08-16T15:12:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.legitgambling.com\/news\/?p=7968"},"modified":"2018-08-16T15:12:59","modified_gmt":"2018-08-16T15:12:59","slug":"nba-2k-league-welcomes-four-new-franchises","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.legitgambling.com\/news\/nba-2k-league-welcomes-four-new-franchises\/","title":{"rendered":"NBA 2K League Welcomes Four New Franchises"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.legitgambling.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/nba-2k-league.jpg\" alt=\"NBA 2K League\" width=\"300\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-7970\" \/>The second season of the <a href=\"https:\/\/2kleague.nba.com\">NBA 2K League<\/a> (NBA2KL) which is a special eSports league will include new franchises owned by the <strong>Los Angeles Lakers, Atlanta Hawks, Minnesota Timberwolves and Brooklyn Nets<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Take-Two Interactive<\/strong>, a New York-based video game company created NBA2KL which is an eSports league that launched earlier this year. The first season which started in May 2018 featured 17 out of the 30 NBA teams. The games are currently being played out and the league\u2019s first ever final event will be held in New York on Aug. 25. <\/p>\n<p>The league has already moved forward with plans for a second season which is expected to be bigger and better. <\/p>\n<p>The latest version is called <strong>NBA 2K19<\/strong> and will be rolled out on September 11. More teams are expected to join in for the second season where the expansion price will once again be $750,000 and will allow teams to participate for three years in the league.<\/p>\n<p><strong>NBA 2K<\/strong><\/p>\n<div style=\"position:relative;height:0;padding-bottom:56.25%\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/cIxzmr9sid4?rel=0&amp;showinfo=0?ecver=2\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" frameborder=\"0\" style=\"position:absolute;width:100%;height:100%;left:0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>TwitchTracker<\/strong> has stated that the NBA 2K League has an average of around 10,500 viewers for each Twitch broadcast since mid-July while the NBA reports that viewership went up from 130,000 to 285,000 average unique viewers per broadcast.<\/p>\n<p>The four NBA franchises join the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nba.com\/article\/2017\/05\/04\/nba-2k-esports-league-17-nba-teams-participate-inaugural-season\">17 NBA squads that took part in the first NBA 2K League season<\/a>. These new affiliated brands will be close to their real-world basketball franchises.<\/p>\n<p>The second season will be bigger now that four <a href=\"https:\/\/www.legitgambling.com\/sports-betting\/basketball\/nba\">NBA franchises<\/a> have committed to join in. <\/p>\n<p>In a statement, <strong>Brendan Donohue<\/strong>, MD of NBA 2K League said <\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Welcoming these four world-class organizations and their passionate fanbases to the NBA 2K League is an exciting moment not only for the league, but for the entire 2K community<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Donohue added that each team would be an asset to the league. Their addition to NBA2KL provides the chance for new players and coaches to join the league. <\/p>\n<h2>Mixed Reviews<\/h2>\n<p>The first season of NBA 2K League has received mixed reviews.
