\"\"The NFL<\/a> has made its stance clear this coming season and players will not be able to ‘take a knee<\/em>‘ during the National Anthem this season. The NFL has changed its rules to allow players to remain indoors if they don\u2019t want to stand for the National Anthem.<\/p>\n

In a statement, Commissioner Gooddell said <\/p>\n

This season, all league and team personnel shall stand and show respect for the flag and the anthem. If anyone is on the field and is disrespectful to the anthem or the flag, there will be a fine from the league against the team. The team will have its own rules and make their own decisions<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Gooddell went on to say that it was unfortunate that the protests last year sent a message to the fans that thousands of NFL players were unpatriotic<\/strong>. The Commissioner said that this clearly wasn\u2019t the case and expected things to be a lot more clear with this new decision.<\/p>\n

This decision by the NFL has not gone down well with the NFL Players Association<\/a>. The Association claims that they were never consulted in the matter and the decision directly contradicted the talks that the Commissioner had earlier had with them. The NFL Players Association will review the new policy and plans to challenge any terms that contradict the collective bargaining contract between the two sides.<\/p>\n
