\"WeissWeiss Ratings<\/a>, the US-based independent provider of ratings and research for the bank and insurance industries, announced<\/a> that it will start rating crypto currencies. The rating agency stated that it will issue letter grades on crypto currencies<\/a> such as Bitcoin, Ripple, Ethereum, Bitcoin Cash, NEM, Cardano, Stellar, Litecoin, IOTA, EOS, NEO, Dash, Bitcoin Gold, Monero and many others. The rating list will be released on January 24. It would be the first time a global financial rating agency has rated crypto currencies.<\/p>\n

Weiss Ratings was founded in 1971. It currently covers 55,000 institutions and investments. Unlike other major financial rating agencies such as S&P, Fitch, Moody\u2019s, and A.M.Best, Weiss do not accept payment of any kind from the entities it rates. The US Government Accountability Office (GAO), Barron\u2019s, and several media publications have mentioned about its independence and accuracy in the past.<\/p>\n

Weiss Ratings\u2019 founder Martin Weiss<\/strong> has issued the following statement:<\/p>\n

“Many cryptocurrencies are murky, overhyped and vulnerable to crashes. The market desperately needs the clarity that only robust, impartial ratings can provide. We’re proud to be the first to bring that benefit to investors \u2013 to help them cut through the hype and identify the few truly solid cryptocurrencies. Our ratings are based on hard data and objective analysis. But they’re bound to create controversy, including some grades that may come as a surprise to some people.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Weiss Ratings are updated on a daily basis, based on the purchased and gathered data. In a separate statement, Weiss Ratings and Intercontinental Exchange (ICE) have announced the launch of the new instruments that will enable crypto currency investors to make informed decisions.<\/p>\n

The financial model used by Weiss Ratings to assess crypto currencies consists of four sub-models.
\n1. Risk Index \u2013 based on price and volatility.
\n2. Reward Index \u2013 based on historical buying and selling pattern.
\n3. Technology Index \u2013 based on the review of source code and white paper.
\n4. Adoption Index \u2013 based on adoption, settlement time, and transaction speed.<\/p>\n
