{"id":167,"date":"2015-04-20T13:50:12","date_gmt":"2015-04-20T13:50:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.legitgambling.com\/?p=167"},"modified":"2018-09-06T14:24:36","modified_gmt":"2018-09-06T14:24:36","slug":"new-irish-betting-laws-now-effective","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.legitgambling.com\/news\/new-irish-betting-laws-now-effective\/","title":{"rendered":"New Irish Betting Laws Now Effective"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.legitgambling.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/ireland.jpg\" alt=\"Ireland\" width=\"300\" height=\"197\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-168\" \/>The Ireland\u2019s Minister for Finance <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Michael_Noonan\">Michael Noonan<\/a><\/strong> has revealed that the new betting laws have become effective as from April 15, 2015. <\/p>\n<p>The new betting laws will regulate all betting activities taking place in the country and measures have been taken into consideration on how to eradicate illegal betting operators. <\/p>\n<p>In addition, the new betting laws will also regulate the licensing rules for remote betting sites at which the following will be required;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>All betting operators who provide betting services to punters in Irish should acquire their licenses from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.justice.ie\/\">Ireland\u2019s Minister for Justice and Equality<\/a>. <\/li>\n<li>Before you commence any betting operations, you should first hold a Certificate of Personal Fitness and this too should be held before applying for a license. <\/li>\n<li>The license acquired is valid of two years and will cost \u20ac10,000.<\/li>\n<li>A 1% duty will be levied to all remote operators and this is similar to the same duty levied by in-country bookmakers.<\/li>\n<li>Any betting operator who offers services without a licensed could be fined \u20ac5,000 for first time offenders.
