The deal, reached last Wednesday, sends a package of draft picks to Kansas City, including the No. 29 pick in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.legitgambling.com\/us\/legal-us-online-betting-sites\">2026 NFL Draft<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>The trade and contract are expected to become official Wednesday when the new league year begins.<\/p>\n<h2>Ahead of Top-Paid Cornerbacks<\/h2>\n<p>Prior to the extension, <strong>McDuffie was entering the final year of his rookie contract<\/strong>. The Chiefs had already exercised his fifth-year option last April, which guaranteed him $13.6 million for the 2026 season. The new deal obviously changes that picture in a big way.<\/p>\n<p>His $31 million annual average now puts him ahead of other top-paid corners, including the Indianapolis Colts\u2019 Sauce Gardner at $30.1 million and the Houston Texans\u2019 Derek Stingley Jr. at $30 million. Stingley previously held the record for guaranteed money at the position with $89 million.<\/p>\n<p>For the Rams, the move addresses a clear need. Along with the 2026 first-rounder at No. 29, Kansas City is expected to get fifth- and sixth-round picks in 2026 and a third-round pick in 2027.<\/p>\n<p>For McDuffie, the move also brings him closer to home, as the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.legitgambling.com\/us\/states\/california\">Southern California<\/a> native played his senior year at St. John Bosco High School.<\/p>\n<p>In total, the player has 56 career game appearances, recording <em>three interceptions, 34 pass breakups, 5.5 sacks, and 246 tackles<\/em>.
