Bowser wants to see all that change. <\/p>\n<p>In the spring, the mayor unveiled a <a href=\"https:\/\/mayor.dc.gov\/sites\/default\/files\/dc\/sites\/mayormb\/page_content\/attachments\/FY26-Budget-Presentation-Deck.pdf\">$21.8 billion budget for fiscal year 2026<\/a> that included the <strong>Poker and Blackjack Gaming Authorization Act of 2025<\/strong>. The measure, described as \u201c<em>hot<\/em>\u201d by the mayor at the time, would have made live poker, blackjack, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.legitgambling.com\/us\/legal-us-online-bingo-sites\">bingo<\/a> tournaments available for anyone 18 and older, with tax revenues flowing back into the city, giving the local economy a much-needed boost.<\/p>\n<p>While her first attempt didn\u2019t make it into the final version of <a href=\"https:\/\/lims.dccouncil.gov\/Legislation\/B26-0265\">Council Bill 26-0265<\/a>, Bowser went forward, confirming her plans to revive the push for legal poker and blackjack on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<h2>Deputy Mayor Albert: \u201cWe\u2019re Still Sort of Formulating What the Plan Would Be\u201d<\/h2>\n<p>When asked about the potential revenue projections her plan might generate, Bowser admitted no firm numbers exist at the moment, given the novelty of the idea. <\/p>\n<p><strong>Deputy Mayor Nina Albert<\/strong> went on to argue that the respective estimates would largely depend on the exact number of events that the city would bring in. <\/p>\n<blockquote><p>So, we\u2019re still sort of formulating what the plan would be.
