Aaron Boone\u2019s side <strong>took down the Los Angeles Dodgers 7-3<\/strong> to close out the series on a high note. It wasn\u2019t quite revenge for Saturday\u2019s lopsided defeat, but it was a much-needed response, and enough to avoid the sweep.<\/p>\n<p>The Yankees, who have yet to be swept this <a href=\"https:\/\/www.legitgambling.com\/sports-betting\/baseball\">MLB season<\/a>, alongside the Mets and Reds, struck early. <\/p>\n<p>In the first inning, <strong>Trent Grisham<\/strong> came home on an error following a base hit by Jasson Dom\u00ednguez. The Dodgers answered in the second thanks to a solo shot by Tommy Edman, but New York didn\u2019t stay quiet for long. <\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.co.uk\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/5016968\/ben-rice\">Ben Rice<\/a><\/strong> launched a two-run homer to center field in the third, and a wild pitch by Dodgers starter Yoshinobu Yamamoto allowed Anthony Volpe to score, extending the lead to 4-1.<\/p>\n<p><center><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Rice, Rice, Baby \ud83c\udf5a <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/WD85wRJVvy\">pic.twitter.com\/WD85wRJVvy<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; New York Yankees (@Yankees) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Yankees\/status\/1929326847189205180?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">June 1, 2025<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p> <script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/center><\/p>\n<p>Yamamoto, who has been a consistent presence for L.A., struggled on Sunday. He lasted just 3 2\/3 innings, the shortest outing of his season, giving up seven hits and four earned runs.<\/p>\n<p>New York padded its lead in the fifth with runs batted in (RBI) singles from DJ LeMahieu and Oswald Peraza, making it 6-1. <\/p>\n<h2>The Dodgers Pushed Too Late <\/h2>\n<p>Though the Dodgers tried to chip away with back-to-back solo homers from Andy Pages and Max Muncy in the seventh, their push came too late. <\/p>\n<p>The Yankees quickly locked things down in the final two innings, and <strong>LeMahieu added an insurance run in the ninth with an RBI double<\/strong>. He finished 4-for-5, recording his first four-hit game since 2021.<\/p>\n<p>Despite Sunday\u2019s win, the Yankees dropped the weekend series after losing 8-5 on Friday, when Shohei Ohtani blasted two home runs, and then enduring Saturday\u2019s brutal blowout, powered by seven RBIs from Muncy. <\/p>\n<p>It was the most runs the Dodgers have ever scored in a game against the Yankees. At one point, things got so out of hand that even Ohtani seemed to check out.<\/p>\n<p>Still, the Yankees head out of L.A. with a 36-22 record and a firm grip on the AL East lead.
