Election<\/a><\/strong> before the official announcement was made. <\/p>\n<h2>The UKGC Investigating Offences Regarding the Date of the Election <\/h2>\n<p>According to police authorities on Wednesday, a constable in the Royalty and Specialist Protection Command has been arrested following information received from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.legitgambling.com\/worldwide-gambling-licensing-authorities\/uk-gambling-commission\">Gambling Commission<\/a> on June 14. <\/p>\n<p>The constable from the Met\u2019s royalty and specialist protection command, who is also Rishi Sunak\u2019s police bodyguard, is suspected of misconduct in public office. <\/p>\n<p>The arrest followed the regulator\u2019s confirmed investigation into \u201c<em>the possibility of offenses concerning the date of the election<\/em>\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>According to a statement from the Met, the matter was<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Immediately referred to officers in the Met&#8217;s Directorate of Professional Standards, who opened an investigation, and the officer was also removed from operational duties<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<div style=\"position:relative;height:0;padding-bottom:56.25%\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/1SUUdCzO1N4?rel=0&amp;showinfo=0?ecver=2\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" frameborder=\"0\" style=\"position:absolute;width:100%;height:100%;left:0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>The Officer Allegedly Used Inside Information to Bet<\/h2>\n<p>On May 22, PM Sunak announced July 4 as the official date when the Parliament elections will be held in Britain. <\/p>\n<p>The announcement of the date, which was a carefully kept secret, took a lot of people by people, including many in the PM\u2019s governing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservatives.com\">Conservative Party<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>This is because many of them had expected the election to be held sometime in the fall.<\/p>\n<p>While <a href=\"https:\/\/www.legitgambling.com\/uk\/legal-uk-online-betting-sites\">betting is allowed in the UK<\/a>, where bookmakers offer odds on everything ranging from sports to elections or the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.legitgambling.com\/sports-betting\/novelty\/awards\/nobel-prize\">next winner of a Nobel prize<\/a>, betting using inside information is considered cheating and treated as a criminal offense.<\/p>\n<h2>The Bodyguard Was Released on Bail<\/h2>\n<p>The arrested police officer, who has remained unnamed as he has not been put under charge, has been released on bail and is pending further inquiries. <\/p>\n<p>He has also been removed from his duties for the duration of the official investigation into his conduct. <\/p>\n<p>The matter has also been referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct.<\/p>\n<p>Commenting on the news, <strong>Liberal Democrat Deputy Leader Daisy Cooper<\/strong> said PM Sunak should <\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Call a Cabinet Office inquiry into what is shaping up to be yet another scandal at the heart of Government.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Similarly, last week, the PM\u2019s aide, <strong>Craig Williams<\/strong>, who is also looking to get reelected to Parliament, admitted he was under investigation by the same Gambling Commission for <strong>allegedly placing a 100 pound
