The Chiefs plan to see Wentz become a top backup quarterback behind two-time NFL MVP and three-time Super Bowl MVP <strong>Patrick Mahomes<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2>Five Teams in Five Seasons<\/h2>\n<p>The announcement means that Wentz will be joining his fifth team in a total of five seasons. <\/p>\n<p>Starting as the <strong>second overall pick in the 2016 NFL draft by the Philadelphia Eagles<\/strong>, the quarterback spent five years in Philly. <\/p>\n<p>While representing the team, he was <strong>chosen for the Pro Bowl in 2017<\/strong> after helming the Eagles in the regular season before he teared his ACL.<\/p>\n<p>In 2021, he was <strong>traded to the Indianapolis Colts<\/strong> where he spent one season before he was <strong>sent to the Washington Commanders before the 2022 season<\/strong> began. <\/p>\n<p>His rocky campaign in Washington saw him being released at the end of the 2023 season.<\/p>\n<p>He then <strong>joined the Los Angeles Rams as backup for Matthew Stafford<\/strong>, showing up in two games in Los Angeles and registering one start.<\/p>\n<p>In the two games he attended, Wentz recorded a total of 163 passing yards, one interception, and two touchdowns.<\/p>\n<p>He also assisted the team with a game-winning drive over the San Francisco 49ers in the season finale.<\/p>\n<p>The player started in 93 career games but a total of eight contests from 2021 onward.
