{"id":13923,"date":"2024-03-12T09:03:23","date_gmt":"2024-03-12T09:03:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.legitgambling.com\/news\/?p=13923"},"modified":"2024-03-12T11:16:17","modified_gmt":"2024-03-12T11:16:17","slug":"fanduel-launches-in-washington-dc-via-intralot-deal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.legitgambling.com\/news\/fanduel-launches-in-washington-dc-via-intralot-deal\/","title":{"rendered":"FanDuel Launches in Washington DC Via Intralot Deal"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.legitgambling.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/fanduel.jpg\" alt=\"Fanduel\" width=\"300\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-7845\" title=\"FanDuel Launches in Washington DC Via Intralot Deal\" \/><strong>Summary:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>FanDuel will launch in the district via a new wagering subcontract with Intralot.<\/li>\n<li>The operator has received the Office of Lottery and Gaming for the District of Columbia\u2019s approval.<\/li>\n<li>Columbia residents will gain access to FanDuel\u2019s mobile app, retail sports betting platforms, and website. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The body that regulates privately-operated <a href=\"https:\/\/www.legitgambling.com\/us\/legal-us-online-betting-sites\">sports wagering<\/a> in the District of Columbia, the <strong>Office of Lottery and Gaming<\/strong> (OLG) has officially confirmed that it has given the green light to <strong>FanDuel<\/strong> to launch in the district.<\/p>\n<p>This will be possible thanks to the newly signed sports wagering subcontract with <strong>Intralot<\/strong>, the leading supplier of integrated gambling, game content, transaction processing systems, game sports betting management and interactive gambling services to state-licensed gaming organizations.<\/p>\n<h2>The FanDuel App to Launch in Columbia This Spring<\/h2>\n<p>As a result, Colombia (Washington DC) residents will be given access to the operator\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.legitgambling.com\/blog\/infographic-on-how-mobile-betting-apps-have-developed\">mobile app<\/a>, website, and retail sports betting platforms.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>app will launch in Columbia in the spring<\/strong> and will only be available to residents and visitors inside the jurisdiction.<\/p>\n<p>OLG\u2019s executive director, <strong>Frank Suarez<\/strong>, explained that FanDuel\u2019s leading offering in the industry is expected to help Colombia maximize its tax revenue under current contracts in 2024 while also delivering best-in-class experiences to residents over the age of 18.<\/p>\n<h2>Intralot to Pay the $5M Launch Fee<\/h2>\n<p>To be allowed to launch the sports betting app in Columbia, <strong>FanDuel will need to cover an initial $5 million fee<\/strong>. <\/p>\n<p>The fee will be covered by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.intralot.com\">Intralot<\/a>. The company will also offer extra funds needed to cover the OLG\u2019s sports betting operating costs. <\/p>\n<p>Some of the money will also go towards an initiative aimed at boosting sports betting revenue.<\/p>\n<p>Sports wager revenue will fuel a general fund that will support a series of programs that will sponsor local businesses and businesses owned by minorities as per the Certified Business Enterprises program.<\/p>\n<p><strong>GambetDC<\/strong>\u2018s present retail kiosks will be replaced with FanDuel\u2019s branded kiosks in time for the launch.<\/p>\n<p>In other news, FanDuel has recently acquired BeyondPlay, to help with its product development. <\/p>\n<p>America\u2019s #1 Sportsbook and premier mobile sports betting operator started as a backyard Texas brainstorm between five co-founders, turning into the driving force in today\u2019s multibillion-dollar industry. <\/p>\n<p>The company has over 1 million registered users.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Summary: FanDuel will launch in the district via a new wagering subcontract with Intralot.
