Plan B is still a work in progress, but it should create a legislative framework that would keep the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.legitgambling.com\/au\/legal-australian-online-casino-sites\">Australian casino<\/a>\u2019s doors open, according to Kimmitt. <\/p>\n<p>The VGCCC could appoint a receiver or a new manager to take charge of the running of the Melbourne casino and that would be carried out as part of a \u201c<em>transition-out<\/em>\u201d process agreed upon with Crown. The transition period would then give the government time to facilitate the issuance of a new casino license!<\/p>\n<p>In October 2021, Victoria\u2019s Royal Commission found Crown unsuitable to hold its casino license in Melbourne due to serious anti-money laundering and responsible gambling violations. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.legitgambling.com\/news\/crown-resorts-gets-a-reprieve-on-melbourne-casino-license\/\">Crown avoided license cancellation<\/a>, but a Special Manager, <strong>Stephen O\u2019Brien<\/strong>, was appointed to supervise the casino operator\u2019s remediation efforts for two years. O\u2019Brien is tasked with evaluating the success of those efforts and will submit his final report to the regulator by December 2023. The VGCCC will then decide whether or not Crown should continue to run its Melbourne property.<\/p>\n<h2>VGCCC \u201cPleased\u201d with Crown\u2019s Remediation Efforts<\/h2>\n<p>While the VGCCC is preparing for the worst, Kimmitt said they\u2019re \u201c<em>pleased<\/em>\u201d with what <a href=\"https:\/\/www.legitgambling.com\/news\/blackstone-group-gets-approval-for-8-9bn-takeover-of-crown-resorts\/\">Crown\u2019s new owner, Blackstone Group<\/a>, is currently doing to make sure the casino returns to suitability. The VGCCC boss appreciates that the company has been very cooperative with them, leading to a good working relationship between both parties. <\/p>\n<p>Kimmitt said Blackstone has always shown willingness to step up and accept bigger responsibilities in terms of implementing major changes to the casino\u2019s operations. <\/p>\n<p>Despite that positive feedback, the VGCCC\u2019s final decision will depend on O\u2019Brien\u2019s final report. It remains unclear for now whether Crown will be able to keep its license, but one thing\u2019s for sure \u2013 Crown Melbourne will continue to operate regardless of the outcome of the
