She told the IOC that <strong>she decided to smoke it as her mother passed away recently<\/strong> and cannabis helped her to deal with the pain. <\/p>\n<p>Most athletes agree that <strong>cannabis does not provide any performance enhancement<\/strong> but still the IOC found that a 30 day suspension was the way to go with Richardson. <\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The African-American sprinter accused the IOC of double standards saying that Valieva did not get any suspension because she was white! <\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><center><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Can we get a solid answer on the difference of her situation and mines? The only difference I see is I\u2019m a black young lady. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/JtUfmp3F8L\">https:\/\/t.co\/JtUfmp3F8L<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Sha\u2019Carri Richardson (@itskerrii) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/itskerrii\/status\/1493209274457153536?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 14, 2022<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p> <script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/center><\/p>\n<p>Richardson wanted to know how Valieva could get away with no punishment when she tested positive for angina drug trimetazidine, a substance that is known to be a performance enhancer. <\/p>\n<div style=\"position:relative;height:0;padding-bottom:56.25%\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/9LB4vBNMn7Y?rel=0&amp;showinfo=0?ecver=2\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" frameborder=\"0\" style=\"position:absolute;width:100%;height:100%;left:0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>IOC Offers Explanation Over Valieva Decision <\/h2>\n<p>The IOC dismissed the allegations made by Richardson and said you cannot compare the two cases between American and Russian athletes as each case is treated as an individual case. <strong>Mark Adams<\/strong>, representative for the IOC said Richardson tested positive before the 2021 Tokyo Olympics started while Valieva tested positive during the 2022 Beijing Olympics.<\/p>\n<p>Reports now show that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2022\/02\/14\/sports\/olympics\/valieva-drug-test-heart-medications.html\">Valieva had listed two substances on her anti-doping form<\/a> and both substances were legal to boost heart function.
