All three games in the series were closely contested games which showed that the two sides were pretty evenly matched.<\/p>\n<p>Australia won the first ODI by 19 runs and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/sport\/live\/2020\/sep\/13\/england-v-australia-second-odi-live\">England bounced back in the second ODI to win by 24 runs<\/a>. The two sides went into the third ODI game at Manchester knowing that the series was on the line.<\/p>\n<p><strong>England &#038; Wales Cricket Board<\/strong><\/p>\n<div style=\"position:relative;height:0;padding-bottom:56.25%\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Ju1FdLLamnU?rel=0&amp;showinfo=0?ecver=2\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" frameborder=\"0\" style=\"position:absolute;width:100%;height:100%;left:0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Bairstow Takes England Past 300<\/h2>\n<p>England batted first and was immediately in trouble after they lost <strong>Jason Roy<\/strong> and <strong>Joe Root<\/strong> in quick succession. However, <strong>Jonny Bairstow<\/strong> steadied the ship and made an <em>impressive century scoring 112 of 126 balls<\/em>. He formed partnerships with <strong>Sam Billings<\/strong> (57) and <strong>Chris Woakes<\/strong> (<em>53<\/em>) that would eventually help England to reach <em>302<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Credit must be given to the Aussies for pulling things back as <strong>Mitchell Marsh<\/strong> and <strong>Glenn Maxwell<\/strong> sent down a <em>combined 10 overs and conceded just 48 runs<\/em>. The Poms would have liked more runs but they lost their captain <strong>Eoin Morgan<\/strong> (<em>23<\/em>) just as he was getting set and then the dangerous <strong>Jos Butler<\/strong> fell for just <em>8<\/em>.<\/p>\n<h2>Maxwell and Carey Rescue Australia<\/h2>\n<p>England had the Aussies on the ropes as they picked up wickets at regular intervals and had Australia at 73-5. Glenn Maxwell who has been in fantastic form all series took charge of the innings and wicket-keeper <strong>Alex Carey<\/strong> gave him good company. The two put together a 212 run partnership that took the game away from England and brought them very close to victory.<\/p>\n<p>Maxwell ended up <em>scoring 108 from just 90 balls<\/em> at a strike rate of 120 while Carey finished with 106 from 114 balls.
