This is when <a href=\"https:\/\/www.legitgambling.com\/news\/ferrari-boss-touts-new-sf1000-car-ahead-of-f1-2020-season\/\">F1 teams unveil their season\u2019s new vehicles<\/a> and Mercedes star driver <strong>Lewis Hamilton<\/strong> rose above the pack by edging all other drivers which thrilled his fans as they are excited as always to see the British champ compete in the upcoming season.<\/p>\n<p>Hamilton and Mercedes teammate <strong>Valtteri Bottas<\/strong> ended the first day in first and second position at the Circuit de Catalunya-Barcelona. Hamilton finished <em>0.337 quicker<\/em> than Bottas, who in turn edged <strong>Sergio Perez<\/strong> of Racing Point by <em>0.062 seconds<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Hamilton set his time on the hard compound of tire, while Bottas and Perez set theirs on medium. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.legitgambling.com\/news\/red-bull-moves-early-to-retain-max-verstappen-till-2023\/\">Max Verstappen<\/a> of Red Bull\u2014who had two meaningless spins at Turn 13\u2014garnered the fourth fastest time during the day. Next to Verstappen was Alpha Tauri\u2019s <strong>Daniil Kvyat<\/strong>, then McLaren\u2019s <strong>Carlos Sainz<\/strong>. <\/p>\n<p><strong>Autosport<\/strong><\/p>\n<div style=\"position:relative;height:0;padding-bottom:56.25%\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/9kw0R_5SYcg?rel=0&amp;showinfo=0?ecver=2\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" frameborder=\"0\" style=\"position:absolute;width:100%;height:100%;left:0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Verstappen minimised the spins, explaining them away by saying that he was simply trying to test the limits of his new car. The car sustained no damage due to the spins. Overall, Verstappen reported that he felt good about the new car, particularly its engine, which he identified as the key component to what he hopes to be a successful driving season ahead.<\/p>\n<p>Ferrari had an uneventful preseason testing on the first day; after four-time <strong>Sebastian Vettel<\/strong> decided to skip driving as he wasn\u2019t feeling too good. He took part in an official F1 photo with other drivers before immediately heading home to rest\u2014his teammate <strong>Charles LeClerc<\/strong> took over the wheel and ended a disappointing 11th for the day.<\/p>\n<h2>Williams Ready to Make a Comeback<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.williamsf1.com\">Williams<\/a> is starting to gain steam right as the season is set to kick off, as they attempt to improve on their dismal performance last season, where their car was 1.5 seconds slower than the second slowest. Williams\u2019 preseason showed evidence that they will be performing better this season. Last preseason, Williams was unable to present a car in the first two and half days of testing. <\/p>\n<p>Three final cars were showcased during the day without an official launch: the Racing Point, Alfa Romeo, and Haas.
